Sometimes, life has a way of bringing the right people together just when you least expect it. I had been going to Camp Eagle Hill for over 10 years his friends were my friends through camp but our paths never crossed, until one day it did. After taking a couple years off from going to camp, I decided in July 2021 that I wanted to go back. By chance or maybe fate we had both gotten jobs at camp just a week before it started. Looking back, it feels like the universe had been quietly waiting for that moment so that everything could fall into place at just the right time. We met during orientation, and one of the first things we were asked to share was something we didn’t like. I said, “Apples.” Logan decided he was going to change my mind. Every day, he brought me an apple, and we’d sit together and eat it. Soon, he was leaving apples on my car window too. Those small, thoughtful gestures felt meaningful in a way I hadn’t expected, and I knew something special was beginning. Eventually, Logan asked me out on our first official date. He took me to Holy Cow for ice cream and then to watch the sunset at Burger Hill. It was simple, quiet, and perfect even though I hadn’t mentioned I was lactose intolerant. That night, it became clear that what we had was rare, something worth holding onto, something meant to last a life time.
The day Logan proposed at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland started a little all over the place. We were running late, my hair was a mess, I was flustered, and traffic slowed us down even more. I had even teased Logan before we left, “You better not do this to me when you propose!” completely unaware that he had been planning the perfect moment all along. And yet, somehow, every small delay, every chaotic minute, led us to exactly where we were meant to be: standing together, alone, at one of the most breathtaking places in the world. The cliffs stretched endlessly, the wind whipped around us, and it felt like the world had stopped just for us. As I was standing there, trying to take it all in, Logan called me “Nicole”—he always calls me “Nikki.” I turned to correct him… and there he was, on one knee, holding the ring. My heart completely stopped. Tears filled my eyes, I could barely breathe, I nearly tackled him in my excitement. A thousand memories flashed before me, all the laughs the late night conversations brought us here to this moment Standing there, on the edge of the cliffs, feeling the wind and the love between us, it all felt so perfectly right. I knew without a doubt that we were meant to spend our lives together and that our love for eachother would only keep growing stronger, every single day.
