Matt and his roommate hosted a Halloween party just a few months after they moved to Knoxville and invited friends and coworkers, one of which was Hannah's roommate. With no other plans, Hannah tagged along. She was dressed as Veronica Lodge from Riverdale, and Matt was Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy. She was impressed by his homemade costume (the helmet lit up!) and how great he was at hosting. We didn't get much of a chance to talk that night, but a few months later on New Year's Eve, Hannah found herself without plans again. That's the night we truly caught each other's attention. We found ourselves "accidentally" hanging out in the same friend group from then on.

Matt booked a cabin getaway for Hannah's "birthday" just outside of Asheville. We went to Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River, for a hike and a picnic lunch. The view on the hike turned out to be a giant cloud and scrambled picnic plans, AKA 'The Plan.' Matt came there with a mission and pulled Hannah off to the side of the trail and proposed in the clouds!
