OUR STORY

The Coffee That Never Happened

The Day Kelly Met Jason: We met the same day we matched on Hinge. It was immediate texting back and forth until we decided to meet up that same night. We wanted to keep it a casual date and meet up for coffee at the Starbucks on Colorado Boulevard. I was running a bit late, and the store was about to close. When I arrived at the coffee shop, I saw Jason wearing a navy-and-white T-shirt. He looked flustered because the store was about to close, and I hadn't arrived yet. I suggested that we go to Tavern on Brand instead, since the store was closing. We had drinks and food, and talked for a long time. We chatted about our love for life, movies, and TV shows. We even discussed all the pertinent aspects of our lives. Then we discovered the similarities we shared, such as the same age, Christian upbringings, shared beliefs, attending private school, and a deep love for life, movies, and TV shows. Jason was such a gentleman the whole time and walked me back to my car on a very hot June night. For our second date, we went to see Jurassic World, which I thought was a terrible movie, but it turned out to be an excellent night for us. Now the rest is history. At the very beginning, I noticed his kindness, love, and passion for movies. He is a great dad, loyal, loving, caring, and a supportive anchor to me. The Day Jason Met Kelly: Just like Kelly stated, we hit it off instantly on Hinge with messaging back and forth all day. I was trying to pick a coffee place that wasn't Starbucks, but I couldn't find one that was open late on a Sunday. I had gotten there a bit earlier to grab a table. When I was there, I realized that the internet location closing at 11 meant the drive-thru was closing. I had started to panic since I was worried about making a bad first impression. I got over the panic and messaged Kelly to meet somewhere else. We decided to meet at the Tavern on Brand instead. I later found out that Kelly had forgotten to mention she had a good chuckle at the mishap. She said it was cute watching me frantically try to figure out where to go next as I walked back to my car. The first time I saw her walking up, I noticed she was more beautiful than I could imagine. As we shared appetizers and talked, I learned we had so much in common. Only a few things we differed on were whether musicals were good or bad. She didn't hesitate to make a musical on our third date. After our first date was over, I remember knowing Kelly was someone special, and I was right! From her love of family to her kind and thoughtful personality, and even her attempt to enjoy my music taste (5th date: metal concert, haha), every day getting to know her has been so amazing. Love you, Kelly, you're the best friend, mom to our little girl, and soon-to-be wife any man could ever ask for or imagine. To quote one of my favorite songs: "It don't take a whole day to recognize sunshine" - "The Light" by Common.
