We're Getting Married

As some of you may know, Frutty and I have known each other for a very long time. Since Middle School to be exact. He was the bad boy cutie and I was the Cheerleading sweetheart. As kids we weren’t allowed to date, according to my parents, so we dated in secret. Then came our High School year. During those years (every single year) our relationship was tested, as friends and as boyfriend and girlfriend on and off, but we made it through and made it official September 4, 2013. Years passed by but we knew since day one that having each other was all we really needed and wanted.

It was Christmas Eve, he was up by 8am running "errands" while I got things ready to be taken to my aunt Kikay's house where we usually have our Christmas Eve Partys. I guess you can say he sort of made it obvious that he was going to propose because I've always said if he wanted to propose he needed to make sure my nails were done, and that is exactly what he did the day before. He finally arrived at my aunts house but seemed like he needed to ask me something, I was more worried than anything. So the time comes to take a family picture like we always do every year. Frutty and I were in the front of the picture, which usually never happens, and then my cousin Jessica says “when i count to 3 everybody says “Merry Christmas” ok?”. Then the count down begins.. 3, I turn to look at Frutty and he looked like he wanted to yell something, then 2, I turn one more time and he finally smiles so now my focus is on the camera and my smile.. 1, then “Merry Christmas!” I see everyone starring at the left side of me so I turn and see Frutty on the floor doing what I thought was a dream. "We've known each other all our lives, I love you unconditionally, so now I ask you, will you marry me Vanessa." I tried to soak in the moment for as long as I could, but then I realized it looked like I was taking long to say yes so I quickly answered "Yes, of course"
