While on vacation to Hawai’i, we planned to be in the North Shore on O’ahu one of the days because Chris booked us a private sunset horseback ride on the beach. While packing that morning, I was taking things out of the backpack to make room for what we needed. We made our way to Pūpūkea and found a beautiful beach to hang out. A couple hours later, Chris was very insistent we go back to the hotel in Honolulu, which is an hour away, and then drive all the way back that night for the horseback ride. I wasn’t too sure about the idea, but I also didn’t mind being able to freshen up a little after a swim in the ocean. We got to Hawai’i Polo Oceanfront Trail Rides just in time for our appointment and set off pretty soon after. Towards the end of the loop we take around the grounds, we stop on the beach for the photos. As our guide got the horses in position, Chris asked him to take a video and a few moments later, asked me to marry him! It was an amazing surprise and I couldn’t have asked for anything more! On the way back to the hotel, we were reminiscing on the day, when he told me why he was so insistent on going back to the hotel earlier. Apparently one of the items I had thrown out of the back that morning, was a pair of socks that he had the rings in! We had to go back otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to propose at all that night. Leave it to me to almost ruin my engagement!
