In the heart of Kansas City, two people, Amaya and Domonic, embarked on a journey that would forever change their lives. Fate led them to an unforgettable night at an Alpha Phi Alpha party, where the beat of the music and the spark in their eyes created an instant connection. Little did they know, this was just the beginning of their extraordinary love story. As students at the University of Missouri Kansas City, they navigated the trials and triumphs of academia together, discovering shared passions and dreams that bound them tightly. Their days were filled with laughter, study sessions, and the sweet moments that laid the foundation for what was to come. One fall semester, they found themselves at a leadership convention in Washington D.C. Surrounded by the echoes of history, they explored the nation's capital experiencing the city together all while getting to know one another. It was here that their connection deepened, and they realized that they were destined for something greater. Returning to Kansas City, they embarked on a journey of growth and love. In October of 2018, Amaya participated in the Miss Black and Gold pageant hosted by Domonic’s fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. All of the girls got assigned a brother to help them, guide them and answer any questions they may have had. Well Domonic was not Amaya’s assigned brother, but Amaya wanted to take the connection further, so she began to lean on Domonic for help and questions and he was there to answer. They began to text every day, sit on the phone and soon enough started going on dates. They nurtured their relationship, allowing it to bloom into something truly magical. Together, they faced life's challenges and celebrated its joys, building a love that was unbreakable. Domonic then gave Amaya the blessing of meeting and getting to know his two little ones, Mason and Dorian & in December of 2019, Domonic finally asked Amaya to be his official girlfriend. And now, as the sun sets over the city that witnessed their journey, Amaya and Domonic stand hand in hand, ready to embark on the greatest adventure of all – marriage. Surrounded by the love and support of their family and friends, they are poised to write the next chapter of their epic love story. Sometimes things truly don’t go as planned. You can envision and plan something so perfectly but the unexpected can change things in an instant. Imagine a slip up revealing the date of such an important surprise. Well, that’s the beginning of our story but certainly not the end. During general conversation the date of the proposal was revealed to the bride to be forcing the groom to act quick and change course. With planning already in progress, the groom and his support system had to quickly come up with not only a new date but a way to get the bride to the location without suspicion. After some thinking, the new plan was to throw a surprise birthday party for the bride's mother and continue to throw off the bride as she often wondered when the day would truly come. After planning, deciding on decorations, as well as the flow of the day, time had flown by, and the day had come. On October 30th, 2022, 1:00pm at Whiskey on Washington in St. Louis, MO accompanied by family and friends, the groom with ring hand, down on one knee, asked the now bride to be if she would marry him and she said … YES!!! With much excitement they celebrated the rest of the day surrounded and embraced by the love of friends and family as well as their love for one another. While that may be the end of the proposal story there’s so much more to this love story.
