The First Day,

April 24th, 2020

We met in the middle of the Global Pandemic that made the whole world stop, COVID-19. He was a senior in high school and I was a junior, both trying to navigate our new distance learning programs created by our school, Madison Southern High. Like every other school day, my sister and I would drive to Dollar General to escape the newfound boredom caused by social distancing. I was buying a Red Bull, at the time there was no self-checkout there, and when I handed him my money I knew I had to get to know this guy. What a shocker when I found out that my sister knew him from school and gave me his Snapchat. Two days of talking turned into two weeks which turned into four weeks, on April 24th, 2020 he asked me to be his girlfriend.

The Yes Day!

May 22nd, 2023

Most girls want to believe that they know when they are being proposed to, but the reality is you never truly know until it’s happening. We were on vacation with his family, in Florence, Alabama. It was a beautiful 75-degree Monday morning, we had planned a date for later that day, but before we got there his dad and he were going fishing, being one man down (who was unfortunately out with a stomach bug) meant I could go too. We spent a good majority of the afternoon on the boat that day, only to find out the restaurant we wanted to eat at would be closed. We decided on an Italian restaurant, called Ricatoni’s, usually, he cleared his plate but this night he had leftovers. Afterward, he took me to McFarland Park to watch the sunset over the lake, we took just a few moments to admire it together. Little did I know that his whole family was hiding around us, Jonah down on the rocks laying on his side praying a snake wouldn’t come out from between them, Lanae hiding behind two very tall trees waiting to capture the moment, Joe and Bekah crouching behind someone’s car hoping whoever was watching them wouldn’t call the police because of the strange activity before them. Then he turned to me and said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” He got on one knee and pulled out the most gorgeous ring, I was so stunned I could only nod yes when he asked me to marry him.
