How it began…

June 2019

After several failed attempts at online dating, Rachel decided to give it one last go. On a Sunday night, she downloaded Tinder and low and behold she matched with a tall, dark, and handsome stranger! His name was Tom Davis and he messaged her right away! Naturally, Rachel promptly fell asleep and didn’t open the Tinder app until the next day after work. Despite the delay, they arranged to meet up for a drink at a brewery less than a mile away! After their first date, Rachel called her parents and said “I actually really like this guy!” It was very different than how she had felt about anyone else. From that moment on, Tom and Rachel spent almost all their time together. Little did they know they were living a mile apart for 2 years before they met! Rachel even used to walk past Tom’s house while getting some exercise on the Highline Canal Trail and both regularly shopped at the neighborhood Walmart (and possibly Wallaby’s Liquor Store from an unconfirmed source).

How he proposed…

June 2022

Tom and Rachel planned a week long vacation to New Orleans and the Gulf Shores. This was the first trip Tom and Rachel had taken by themselves and Rachel felt like this may be the trip! Tom had arranged for them to stay at the Omni Riverfront hotel in The French Quarter. It was a beautiful hotel near the river! While there, they attended Jazz Fest, went on a Jazz Cruise, and soaked up all the culture, food, and drinks that New Orleans had to offer. While driving to the Gulf Shores, Rachel thought this must be it, a little more slow paced and intimate setting. While the Gulf Shores were beautiful and both Tom and Rachel thoroughly enjoyed the trip, Rachel was wrong again. After the vacation, Rachel started traveling a lot for work touring the 8 new states added to the company through the merger, the “HR Roadshow.” During this three week time period, Rachel was home only 1-2 days a week. At the end of the traveling, Rachel was tired and not feeling well. After a day of rest, Tom asked Rachel to go to a concert. Rachel was hesitant at first, but agreed. While getting ready, Rachel decided that she wasn’t going to put too much effort into getting ready, she was tired and just looking forward to listening to some good music….. Tom and Rachel hopped on their bikes and headed towards the concert venue. On the way there, Tom pulled off to take a break by Cherry Creek. They had pulled off here many times before and Rachel thought nothing of it. They made their way down to the little sand beach that was tucked under a large tree. There were two ducks slowly making circles in the water and it had caught Rachel’s attention. She turned around and Tom was looking back at her with a big grin on his face. He said “I got you a ring.” Rachel did not register what he said and before she could, he pulled out the most perfect ring she had ever seen. Rachel said yes!
