Flashback to freshman year at Waterford Kettering High School, Homecoming 2007. Nicole and I had the same group of friends but weren't formally introduced yet (she went to middle school at Pierce, and I went to Mason). I had been wanting to talk to her for weeks because I couldn't keep my eyes off of her as we passed in the halls. At Homecoming, the stars aligned and I found an opportunity to ask her to dance. Thankfully, she said yes. After that night, we became the best of friends, throughout all of high school, and even college. Even though she kept me in the friend zone for seven years, I always knew that she would be my wife one day.
Throughout all of the craziness of 2020, Tony and I were having a blast spending so much of our time together. We were coming down to the last few weeks of summer before the new school year began. Tony was adamant that we go on a relaxing vacation to close out an amazing few months together. Little did I know, this proposal was months in the making; I was the only person left in the dark! To my (pleasant) surprise, my sister Courtney, and her boyfriend Chris, joined us after the first night. We had plans to take pictures on the beach before heading to dinner. As we were getting ready, Tony was flustered to say the least! Changing is outfit 4 times, pacing back and forth, locking us out of our hotel room...somehow I had no idea what was about to happen! As we were posing on the beach with the sun setting behind us (and with a glass of champagne in my hand, of course!) Tony got on one knee and popped the question! The 'pictures' I was expecting, turned out to be a video capturing this amazing moment. We FaceTimed our families and spent the rest of our vacation on cloud 9. Although it took almost 7 (long) years of dating to get here, I always knew that he would be my husband one day.
