FAQs

Question

1. Where should I fly into?

Answer

We recommend flying into Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), as it's the easiest hub for both flights and train connections to the venue. Geneva is technically the closest airport to Chateau de Fretoy (about 3 hours by car), but please note we're only providing transportation from Paris, so any travel from Geneva would need to be booked independently.

Question

2. Do I need a visa to attend?

Answer

As of now, U.S. citizens don't need a visa for short stays in France. Should anything change, we will do our best to communicate these requirements to you. Please make sure your passport is renewed well in advance, as passport renewal takes 4-6 weeks on average.

Question

3. What's the dress code?

Answer

We're asking for formal attire (i.e. gowns, suits, etc.). Please dress nicely for the occasion in whatever way feels most comfortable and authentic to you! A practical note: while we can't predict the weather, Burgundy in June tends to be warm and sunny, and France has seen record heat in recent summers. We encourage you to choose attire and accessories that will help you stay cool. Linen is a popular choice in casual settings.

Question

4. How do I get to Chateau de Fretoy?

Answer

Option 1: Take advantage of our provided bus transportation from Paris (see our Travel page for schedule details). Option 2: Take the TGV train from Paris partway, then book a taxi or rental car for the final stretch to the venue. However you travel, a taxi or rental car will be necessary to reach the chateau itself, as it's not directly accessible by train.

Question

5. Will I have a place to stay?

Answer

We expect to host the majority of guests on-site at the chateau at no additional cost. Some guests will stay with family or, depending on final RSVPs, at a nearby gîte. On-site lodging can't be fully guaranteed until RSVPs are in, so thank you for your patience as we finalize details.

Question

6. What should I pack?

Answer

Pack for a countryside weekend! Linen clothing, something nice for the rehearsal dinner (immediate family & wedding party only) and wedding, and swimwear if you'd like to use the pool or jacuzzi. Since we'll have plenty of peaceful downtime at the chateau, consider bringing a book, cards, a craft project, or anything else you'd enjoy for relaxing in the countryside.

Question

7. Will there be WiFi and cell service at the venue?

Answer

Yes, WiFi will be available on-site at the chateau. Cell service will depend on your carrier and plan; rural France can have patchy coverage. We strongly recommend purchasing an eSIM (we like Orange and Airalo) before you arrive to ensure reliable data access throughout your stay.
