Both Rach & Matt had played the online dating game and while it led to good stories (do it for the plot!), it hadn't led to anything more. Before her Winter semester of grad school started in Jan 2024, Rachel decided that she was going to go on two more dates before diving into work, clinical & school land. She opened Hinge and was met with the smile of the man who would become her husband. Very unlike her (due to having 1000s of Hinge suitors), she commented on one of Matt's prompts asking where he had travelled to. Cut to Matt and he sees an absolute stunner has liked his photo! First thought: is she a bot or how is it she's still single?? They exchanged messages, and Matt wasted no time asking Rachel out for lunch at Tessa's Deli on January 13th. The way to a jersey girl's heart: a deli. Little did he know, her sister (shout out T!) shared the same name and 1/13 is her dad's birthday (shout out G!). Rach, who's always looking for signs had an inkling that this was a date worth going on-- talk about Grandma Joan coming through as Matt's wingwoman!! Rach played it cool after the first date (helped that it was about 3 degrees) and with a quick hug jumped in her car and whipped away. After the second date full of getting to know one another on a deeper level, heart to hearts & rock, paper, scissors it felt like they had known each other for much longer than a week. Fast forward a year and a half, and Matt popped "the question" on the shores of Lake Winni during Family Olympics with Rach's family nearby- it was perfect! Life has been a whirlwind ever since, and we wouldn't have it any other way. 2.5 years later and we're getting married!!  We've explored mountaintops, swam in oceans, and travelled across countries, but nothing will compare to being in Santa Barbara- celebrating with our favorite people in the world, and bringing everyone together for an amazing weekend!
