We used to work together at a music venue. We both share an undeniable love for music. We didn't pay much attention to each other at the time. Fast forward 7 years and the person you least expect is the person you can't imagine your life without.
Being in Florida- you have to show the kids the Alligator farms and plan a day trip to St Augustine. On our return, we were tired but I was excited to have a proper date night with my man. So I rallied, got cute and off we went for an amazing seafood dinner and cocktails. He said he wanted to walk on the beach and drove us somewhere. I thought it was weird that he picked a random spot not at all close to where we were already. He muttered something about doing this the rest of his life then mentioned we should check out a building, normal conversation about real estate those days. A woman popped out of nowhere and said "Frances, Johan, come with me " I look at him and say, "Did you buy a condo???" I had no shoes on. The lady also said I didn't need to put any on. He led me to a room and sent me a text message with a video of the kids telling me I'd be a great Zafra and dancing to Bruno Mars's "Marry You". In a complete state of shock both from video and the fact that I'm in a room with a ton of people looking at me he says' "Babe, its time", gets down on one knee and proposes. My family was there from Jax and family drove up from Tampa as well. It was the truly the perfect proposal. Celebrations, laughs and love ensued.
Before we got to Florida, the alligators and the margaritas... there was a lot of planning. Picking the ring was only the beginning. After doing the right thing and asking Tita and Tito for their daughter's hand in marriage - they happily said yes btw - the planning for the big surprise was ON. Kudos to the kids for keeping such a big secret. Thanks to the sister-in-law-to-be, we had a place to gather and surprise my babe with a big question, sand between our toes and a beautiful ring - and babe's family of course. I was more nervous about finding the right place on a beach I had never been to before than anything else. Butterflies in my stomach, as we walk down the beach I spot some members of my in-laws-to-be peering out from a balcony and panic a little bit; thankfully she was oblivious to what was really going on - she thought I had bought a condo on the beach. I remember seeing phones sticking out above us from the balcony as we approached the door following the stranger who called upon us; I wanted to laugh so hard. I think you know the rest... the YES, the smile on her face, the happiness and joy all around us, was wonderful.
