Jacob and Mackenzie first met in 2018 while playing in the Waubonsie Valley High School Wind Symphony. Jacob played the trumpet, while Mackenzie played the flute and piccolo. Although they spent the entire school year in the same friend group, they did not officially begin dating until May 2019. Their first official date was dinner after the annual Fine Arts Festival. Over the next several years, life brought many changes as both Jacob and Mackenzie moved to Bloomington, Indiana, to continue their education. Jacob graduated from Indiana University in 2024 with degrees in Economic Consulting and Business Analytics. Mackenzie’s path through college was not always traditional, but one thing remained constant throughout it all: Jacob’s unwavering support. Mackenzie recently graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in nursing and is now working her dream job as a Registered Nurse. Through everything that comes with growing into adulthood — navigating a global pandemic, college life, adopting a very dramatic cat, and beginning their careers — Jacob and Mackenzie have always been each other’s rock. They are beyond excited to become husband and wife, surrounded by the friends and family who have supported and shaped them throughout their lives.
