Fritz and Silvia first met in Haiti at Lycée Toussaint Louverture during their baccalaureate philosophy exam in 2006 . They briefly spoke about the exam, exchanged a few words, and went their separate ways without even exchanging numbers. Two years later, as they like to say, “chance does not exist,” their paths crossed again at the Centre d’Études Diplomatiques et Internationales (CEDI) in Haiti. This time, Fritz approached Silvia and greeted her, and she warmly replied, “Hi, Fritz-Gerald.” From that moment, Fritz felt something special. His family, especially his aunty Pierrette, had always described the kind of woman he would one day love — and Silvia matched that description perfectly. Although they exchanged numbers, they remained just friends, as Silvia was in a relationship at the time. Even so, Fritz felt grateful and lucky to have her in his life as a good friend. In September 2009, they lost contact when Silvia moved to the United States, and shortly after, the 2010 earthquake changed so many lives. Years later, in 2018, Fritz searched for Silvia on Facebook, and they reconnected once again. At the time, Silvia was still in a relationship. Fritz jokingly told her, “It seems like I have no luck, but one thing I know is that no matter how long it takes, you will be my wife one day.” Silvia laughed and replied that they were too close as friends, not realizing that true friendship is often the strongest foundation for a lasting love. Both Leos, Fritz and Silvia share a joyful spirit and a love for life. They enjoy traveling, cooking, celebrating, and spending time with family and friends. Through the years, they have faced challenges and distance, but what has always kept them connected is the deep friendship they built from the very beginning. Today, Fritz’s wish has become a beautiful reality, and Silvia is happy to walk this journey by his side — as best friends, partners, and soon, husband and wife.
