Erin and Max met for their first date at a coffee shop in Philadelphia on a blustery but sunny December day. They were a little nervous and mostly excited to finally meet in person. Erin was late (for her,) on time instead of 5 minutes early. Max walked outside with a big smile on his face the moment he saw her. Throughout the rest of the day, Erin lost and (thankfully) found her phone, Max happily swapped jackets with Erin when she became too cold and they both climbed to the top of an abandoned pier along the Delaware River to watch the sun shimmer across the icy water. Later, over tacos, one or two mango habanero margaritas, and plenty of laughter and stimulating conversation, they began to feel like they had found something incredibly special. They ended their date with plans for another the following weekend. They only made it two days. Their lives since then have been filled with adventures: moving into their Fishtown home together, merging their “cat family,” countless pastries, games of disc golf, long car trips, numerous shows and concerts and time spent with family and friends. For their anniversary just one year after their fateful first date Max reserved a table at the inimitable La Maison in a rural area of Pottstown, PA. He had secretly arranged for a shiny gold ring with a juicy pink sapphire in the center to arrive on the tray of mignardises (the post-dessert dessert as only the French know how to do.) Erin laughed as Max got down on the wrong knee and, with a belly full of French food and French wine, promised to spend the rest of her life with him.
