Max saw Rachael when she answered the bell ringer in Honors Biology on their first day of high school.

Max originally asked Rachael to Homecoming the year before. She said “No” but asked him out the following Spring at a party.

Max proposed while going down the glass elevator at the Sun Dial restaurant in downtown Atlanta and Rachael said “oh, yes!”
