We met in 2003, when Jon (as he was called then) moved to Elizabethtown from KY in the middle of the school year. His family moved a mile away from Hope's family and they rode the same bus. Both were in 6th grade, and Hope had established herself as a boy crazy social butterfly and Jon's huge smile caught her eye. They immediately became the new "It Couple"...for about 3 days. Hope broke Jon's heart over AIM and transferred to another school the following year. Although the two lived close to each other and shared mutual friends, the two crossed paths during high school. Hope went to western PA for college and Jon survived PSU. It seemed their short-lived love story was over. Or, so they thought... In 2014, both Hope and Jon were back in E-Town celebrating their recent college graduations. They both ended up at a local restaurant and as Hope was walking to the bathroom she passed a boy with nice hair and a huge smile. Obviously, this was Jon. He casually said "Hi, Hope", and Hope - always charming - acted like she did not know him. They chatted about school, and Jon told Hope his degree was in "International Relations". Hope rolled her eyes because 3 hours earlier she was telling her mom that she would throw up if she met another guy who had an "International" degree. Yikes! However, Hope was intrigued and she agreed to go out with him when he texted her. They went on their first date to their now favorite dive bar a week later and were inseparable from that point on. But, life happens and the two parted ways in 2017. But because fate is fate, the two reunited in 2018 because they are both better when they are together. Jonny, as Hope nicknamed him after their first date, surprised Hope by planning a proposal in Cape May in 2019, during which Hope classically said "are we getting engaged or what?" a mere 2 minutes before Jonny proposed.
