In spring 2015, we met in Intro to Hospitality and instantly caught the eye of each other. Over the next two years, Josh and I had several classes together but only ever spoke to each other about class work if need be. I even told one of my Phi Lamb sisters about how I wanted to ask the "cute hockey guy from class" to one of our date parties, but I thought he had a girlfriend so I didn't. Then one day in January 2017 we matched on a dating app and began talking and getting to know one another and realizing that we had a lot in common. On January 8th he asked for my number and we began talking/texting all the time for about a week. He asked me if there were any movies I wanted to see and suggested we go see "Passengers". He didn't realize that it was at the opposite theater so we asked the guy what movies were showing at that time and I suggested we see "Moana", which now happens to be one of our favorite movies, just because it sounded "cute" lol and I didn't want him to know how completely obsessed with Disney I was yet . About month later, on February 8th, he officially asked me to be his girlfriend. Almost immediately, we both knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and within a few short months we had already set the date of our future wedding and began looking at engagement rings. Even though there were some obstacles in the way for him to propose when he wanted to, I can happily say it was still perfect and I can't wait for our big day!
On March 7, 2018 we officially became engaged! With our birthdays only being a few days apart we planned to go to Memphis to celebrate them by going to her favorite restaurant. I can't keep a secret from her so she immediately knew when I had the ring and was going to propose that night, she just didn't know when, where, or how. I surprised her by taking her to a local art museum there (I had planned to take for our anniversary the month before and long story short it was closed) and we walked around a bit. While we were looking at the galleries, our friend was outside looking for a place that was cute enough to do it at since as it turns out you can't take pictures in the gallery as I originally had planned. She found this arch way and sent me a picture and I thought it was perfect. I convinced Kimberly to go outside and walk that way since it was starting to get dark and i wanted there to be light for pictures, while I went to the car to get her a surprise. When we got to the arch, I started telling her how much I love her and showed her the photo album I made. It is filled with some of our favorite photos throughout our relationship and I left some blank spots too. I told her that I couldn't wait to fill the rest of the album with pictures from the rest of our lives and then I got down one knee. I asked her to marry me and she said no...just kidding. She said yes and I couldn't have been any happier to hear her say that!
