The freemans

July 31st, 2020 was breathtaking. We had an intimate ceremony in the backyard of The Elizabeth House - one of the oldest homes in Saugatuck, MI. Amidst the pandemic, we reunited with close family and friends for the first time in months; many of whom we have not seen since! It was eclectic. Mismatched chairs adorned the lawn, our personal houseplants accompanied us as Zach dropped our rings mid-ceremony. It was beautiful and we do not regret a single decision we made to change our original wedding plans. Since our wedding day, our lives have hit mountains and valleys. We were able to help coordinate a surprise visit from Lauren and Benji all the way from London. And then things got heavy. We lost Tyler's dad, Steve to cancer this spring. We moved Tyler's mom, Kathy out of her home & away from her woodland paradise of a backyard. We continue to walk alongside my dad, Chris as he continues his recovery from cancer treatment. Grandparents have been hospitalized. Friends have been distant as we wait for vaccination and safe socializing. With tears in my eyes, I am only scratching the surface of how thankful I am for Tyler & the strength our marriage has gained during our first married year together. Life is fleeting and we miss our people! Celebrating with all of you would be a dream come true. However, small talk in a crowded room no longer serves what is important to us. Our vision for this summer is one of travel, socializing, and truly being present. We have decided to cancel our reception on July 23rd. In place of one night, we would love to see each and every one of you. Please PLEASE reach out to schedule a meal, hike, game night - whatever fits best in your life. We want to celebrate, catch up, and experience true community with you. Thank you for your support in the many forms it has taken: phone calls, texts, prayers, bouquets, food... we are in awe of your love & are lucky to have so many beautiful humans in our lives.
