How we Met

8*14*2017

She said: I first saw Tim at Bills BBQ, who was my customer at the time. I walked in and instantly made eye contact. I know its cheesy but his blue eyes took my breath away. I was having a hard time trying to conduct business with the owner when Tim came up to the soda machine to fill up his already full cup. I knew then that he had felt the connection as well. After that it seriously was in God's hands. After a series of crazy events we ended up on our first date the next night. He said: I was eating lunch at Bill BBQ with a couple of co workers when in walked the most beautiful person I had ever seen. As Melissa was wakling over to talk to the owner we made very brief eye contact. The owner, Bill, jokingly told Melissa not to worry about us and that we were harmless. Before I knew it I said "don't let him lie about us" and immediately thought to myself "well that was about the dumbest thing I could have said". I knew at that point that my life was about to change. As Melissa was talking with Bill, without even realizing what I was doing, I filled up my drink at the soda machine (next to her), only to find that it was already full and I was pretty sure that she saw that. I had ate enough of my foot, that I was no longer hungry for my lunch! Melissa left and I asked my friend Bill who she was. Bill talked about her briefly and told me he would get her phone number for me the next time she came in. I quickly told Bill not to bother as I was sure I had already blown any chance of that. I left Bills and drove back to my office when my phone rang. I answered it to an amazing voice saying "so I hear you were asking about me" . After a brief conversation we hung up and immediately sent each other a text message at the same time. The next evening we met for our first date. After several hours of sitting and talking I just knew that God had sent me the one that would change my life, and that would finally help me become the man I was supposed to be.

She said YES!!

What a magical weekend, I never though it would be the weekend of engagement. We went to Traverse City, MI with a group of friends for a weekend of wine tasting. It ended up being the most beautiful engagement I could ever imagine from my best friend. He presented the ring to me in a beautiful customized bible and I sincerely think I went into shock. Before I knew it he was down on one knee, putting a ring on my finger, I was saying yes and the whole winery was clapping. It really was Perfect from the perfect man for me. I'm so blessed. Melissa and I had decided that we wanted to spend our lives together and went to Chicago to shop for the perfect ring. Melissa picked the style and I later picked the stone. A few weeks later I ordered the ring. Melissa knew it was coming just not when. We were asked to meet some friends in Traverse City the weekend after Valentines day and so we decided we would just celebrate Valentines day that weekend. I had the ring shipped to a friends house so that she wouldnt know it was coming. I even convinced the ring sales rep to send me an email stating that production of the ring was delayed and wouldnt ship for several more weeks although I already had it. We went to Traverse City that weekend with friends. I bought Melissa a study Bible with the name Melissa Ann Freel inscribed on the front of it. I tied the ring to the Bible book mark string and let it hang on 1 Corinthians 13. I highlighted 1 Corinthians 13-4 though 8 and wrote a note in the margin "will you marry me". I gave Melissa what she assumed was just a Valentines day present at the first winery that we went to. Melissa un wrapped it and I was so nervous I immediately opened it to the page I marked. I dont think she realized what was happening until I got down on my knee and asked her to marry me. To this day Im not real sure if she said yes or if it came from the crowd that had gathered behind me and began to cheer. Either way...It was an amazing time.
