We met at an off-campus career center for our school district. Both interested in cooking, we bonded being paired off in our culinary class- tasked with creating something together for the campus restaurant. Laughing while cooking and always playing jokes on each other quickly turned into flirting and quiet whispers about how we liked each other. While seeing a movie on a snow day in January 2011, I knew that I liked him and that this could be something special. It was not until April 17th, 2011 that Matthew asked me to be his girlfriend. I ran into a closet to hide because this situation made me very nervous lol. Ever since we have been inseparable! We have gone through many ups and many downs including surviving a year long distance while Matthew was studying in Galveston. We discussed marriage but Matthew was not wavering about waiting until we both graduated from college. Both of us graduated in December of 2017 and walked in the same ceremony at University of North Texas. Matthew waited to pop the question until our 7 year anniversary, April 17th, 2018. Worth the wait!
It was our 7 year anniversary and I knew that Matt had something up his sleeve. We had dinner at one of our favorite Korean BBQ places. Matthew suggested that we get ice cream on the way home so we stopped at Marble Slab and ordered our usuals to-go. Half way home, our ice cream was melting and becoming a mess so Matt suggested we pull off to finish our ice cream and avoid making an even bigger mess. He pulled into the parking lot of the career center that we met at almost 8 years prior. We finished our ice cream and he pulled the ring out of his pocket and said "I have something for you" in which I had to reply "are you going to ask me a question?". There he did it, in the parking lot of the place we met, and of course I said yes! Took him long enough ;)
