If the zoo is too far of a drive or too big of an adventure (seriously, it's huge), then consider checking out the Safari Park in Escondido, roughly 40 minutes away from the venue. Owned and operated by the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, this park has so much to see and is another one of Jennifer's favorite places in San Diego County.

One of the conditions for Robbie accepting a job in San Diego was getting a membership to take Jennifer to the zoo at least once every 3 months. Located roughly 1 hour away from the venue and considered one of the best zoos in the world, it's worth exploring if you have the time!
