I met Ruth-Love in Boston in 2016. She was one of the church members I picked up for worship services with the church van. Although she didn’t reply to my first message about pickup times, we soon became great friends with shared interests in biology, research and Bible studies. At a hangout of the Youth & PENSA Ministry, I was a bit surprised to hear that she was single and not dating knowing how great a lady she was. She was someone special; I could just tell. However, life continued and I didn’t give much thought to this. Coincidentally, we both moved to the west coast from Boston to pursue our PhDs in 2018. Our friendship grew with time and I enjoyed every moment I spent with her in-person and over the phone. I finally asked Ruth-Love out on our first date and the rest as they say is history. Indeed she was single and God was preparing us for each other. I tell myself how blessed I am each day to have met Ruth-Love and can’t wait to make her officially mine.
Gosh I’ve known Fred my whole life! Just kidding. Although it feels like I’ve known him for a long time, I've known him since 2016. So, for a little over 5 years now. We’ve been friends for about that long. Fred joined COP Boston PIWC when he moved to Boston in 2016 and that’s how we came to know each other. I remember hearing a young man worshiping very openly and it left an impression. I didn’t know who he was, until a close friend who was getting married introduced him as someone she grew up with in Nkawkaw. I didn’t think much of it, and we never really interacted until later when he was designated to drive the church van. In picking me up for church, after about 2 weeks of silence, we discovered we had a lot in common and quickly became good friends. Not only was he very spiritual, but also jovial and outgoing. He cares very much for people and always shows it by keeping close relationships and really being part of the lives of those around him. His love for God, humility, and love for people makes it impossible not to like him. However, it wasn’t until some years down the line that our friendship grew to something more. When we both were moving away for school, we decided to deepen our friendship and work towards a life together. By God’s grace, we are here now. I never thought that Fred would be the one God prepared for me when we first met but I can’t imagine it being anyone else now. I thank God for bringing him into my life. I can’t wait to start a life together with him, my best friend, my love, and my husband-to-be.
Obeng, a mutual friend, was in California for his clinical rotation. I started planning secretly with him from his arrival on how best to execute a surprise proposal. It finally came down to Obeng inviting Ruth-Love to a supposed ‘Medical Students & Residents Farewell Dinner’ as Obeng was ending his rotation. Ruth-Love, not knowing that I was the brain behind this dinner, accepted Obeng’s invitation only to arrive and see me patiently waiting for her. A pure surprise! I asked the question and she said YES! Since then, we have been actively planning towards the wedding. We can't wait to celebrate with you at our wedding ceremony and reception in May! See you soon!
