Where is the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding will take place on 1 Big Sustainable Island, a private 14-acre island on Annabessacook Lake in Monmouth, Maine.

What are the wedding dates?

Answer

We’ll be celebrating all weekend: Friday, August 7, 2026 – Arrival Saturday, August 8, 2026 – Wedding Day Sunday, August 9, 2026 – Departure Join us for the entire weekend, one night, or visit the island just for the wedding!

How do I get to the island?

Answer

Access to the island is by boat only. Free roundtrip ferry transportation will be coordinated for guests. Guests will meet at the dock prior to ferry departure. Roundtrip Ferry Schedule: Friday 08/07 3:00pm 5:00pm Saturday 08/08 (Wedding Day) 8:00am 10:00am (Final Before Wedding) 3:00pm 10:00pm Sunday 08/09 10:00am You’ll select your preferred timing when you register. If attending only the wedding, please arrive on Saturday 8/8 by 10:00am.

Where do I park?

Answer

Parking is limited, but spots are available by the dock in the 1SBI parking lot. See island map under Gallery for specifics, but more details on parking will be shared closer to the wedding.

Where can I stay?

Answer

On-island lodging is limited. There may be a $30 per person charge for overnight guests, so please indicate lodging plans when registering. There are 6 different lodges on the island - including a waterhouse, a tree house, an a-line house, and a stargazing dome. Accessibility varies for each, please reach out if there are any accessibility concerns. Details of each cabin can be found on the 1BSI website. Cabins will be assigned on a FCFS basis. If there are no remaining beds / cots available, guests are welcome to bring a tent to camp.

Can I come just for the wedding day?

Answer

Yes! Day trips are welcome — just coordinate ferry timing to align with the 11:00am wedding ceremony when you register. To attend the wedding on Saturday 08/08, choose: Arrival Times: 8:00am or 10:00am Departure Times: 3:00pm or 10:00pm

What should I bring?

Island essentials include: - BYOB encouraged - Comfortable clothes & shoes - Layers for cooler evenings - Swimsuit & towel - Camping gear/tent (if staying overnight) - Reusable water bottle

Is this a formal wedding?

Answer

Nope! This will be a casual, relaxed, outdoor celebration. Think comfortable, practical, and ready for island life. Attend for the ceremony and stay for the island, join us to camp with your family and friends for the weekend!

Can I bring a guest or my dog?

Answer

Yes — please include any additional guests (human or furry) when you register. To stay and camp with us overnight, there is a $30 charge per person.

What will the food be like?

Food will be relaxed and community-style: - Potluck-style meals (sign up during registration) - Casual camping (burgers, hot dogs, etc.) There will be some alcohol but feel free to BYOB if there is something specific that you want to drink!
