Spend a day at La Jolla Shores Beach
Its the largest stretch of flat sand which means there’s plenty room to spread out even on busy days! The ocean is excellent for swimming, and surfing is allowed on the north side. It’s actually one of the best places to learn to surf in San Diego. A variety of reputable, licensed companies like Surf Diva can teach you, and you can find rentals at Everyday California.
Walk around La Jolla Village
Located around the corner from the hotel, La Jolla Shores Village is full of fun shops and tasty spots to grab a bite. The Cheese Shop is a favorite of the bride and groom for delicious sandwiches! If you're in the mood for pizza, pop over to the House of Pizza and grab a slice to go. And there are many more options if you're in the mood for Mexican, Italian, Sushi, and more!
Visit the Birch Aquarium
If visiting with kids (or without), you must visit the Birch Aquarium which showcases research by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in awesome aquarium habitats and hands-on exhibits.
Sea kayaking from La Jolla Shores Beach
Explore the Seven Sea Caves and paddle through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve on a kayaking adventure. You’ll have the chance to see the beauty of La Jolla and the seven sea caves, watch sea lions sunbathing on the rocks, and see our California State fish, the bright orange Garibaldi, swimming under your kayak in La Jolla Cove. On the way back you’ll have the opportunity to surf your kayak back to shore
