Kyle and Franny met a few blocks from the place where they’ll be married this November. Kyle had a man bun. Franny wore tights and khaki shorts. They met halfway up a staircase and shook hands. Kyle walked away to get fried chicken to prepare for his drive back to his home in Austin, Texas. Franny walked away with her friends back to her home in New Orleans because she’s popular. It would be years later before a friend of theirs (Lisa Friedrich) would intertwine these lovers. Franny had moved to Austin and was a burgeoning star (Kyle’s words, not mine lol) in the comedy world there. They had teamed up on a comedy sketch group (EGGS). Franny was smitten. She kept her secret hidden like Kyle does today with the pictures of his man bun. Kyle was oblivious, too focused on writing a comedy sketch about not having a butt. One day, Kyle was at work. He got a message from his co-worker and friend Lisa. “I know someone who likes you”. Kyle wasn’t surprised. He was a strapping 28-year-old. This wasn’t new. “TELL ME!”. After a series of wrong guesses, Lisa finally relented, embarrassed for Kyle. “It’s Franny”. Kyle would never have guessed Franny. She’s too beautiful and talented. And wouldn’t you know it, Kyle was throwing a party that weekend. At his house party, he pulled Franny aside. “I know you like me, and I like you too”. They couldn’t let the community at the party know. It’s taboo for comedians to date fellow comedians. They snuck around the corner of the house, hidden from the party. They kissed for the first time, under the Texas Moonlight. And they’ve been kissing ever since. They’ve lived together. They sheltered in place for COVID, winter storms and wildfires together. They’ve helped each other recover from car wrecks and concussions together. They moved across the country to Los Angeles together. They adopted a dog together. They’re best friends together. They’re family, it’s only now we cement it.
