Booking a Car Reservation with the MV Steamship Authority

Reservations open January 25th at 5 AM and book up fast, especially for weekends, so we recommend booking early as possible. Although you could call reservations (508-477-8800) on the 25th, the wait times can be long. We recommend booking online. We suggest that you go to steamshipauthority.com in advance, and set up an account clicking the New User link top-left. You can set up your account and also store your car information. Then when reservations open, you can sign in and make the reservation much faster. One other thing: if you don't get the ideal reservation time, grab whatever reservation you can that is closest. Once the reservation is set up, you can waitlist for the better time. Chances are quite good that you will ultimately get the better time slot as the day gets closer. *This is for the ferry that leaves from Woods Hole only! All other ferries are passenger only.

Make sure you board a boat heading to Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Schedule is listed on their website. Car bookings open in January - we recommend booking as soon as they open as they are known to fill quickly! If you aren't bringing a car, buy a passenger ticket ahead or day of. 45-minute trip.

Cape Air and Jet Blue both offer flights from NYC and Boston. 1-hour flight from JFK and 40-minute flight from Logan.
