Nate and I met in eighth grade. We had a few classes together and, one day, Nate asked for my number. We talked for a while until he started hinting that he was going to ask me out. I really liked this goofy and sweet guy, but I got nervous and told him I couldn’t date until I was 16 years old. We kept talking for a while, until he told me he was changing schools. After that we lost connection… fast forward to the summer after my sophomore year of college, I got a message on Twitter from… you guessed it… NATE. We had arranged to get together and catch up. After that night, all I could think about was the next time I would get to be with this guy. Every time we would hangout or talk I would message my friend saying how perfect he was and that, as much as I wasn’t ready for a relationship, I didn’t want him to slip away again. On June 28th, 2017, Nate had asked me to be his girlfriend. It was a beautiful summer night/morning (it was 1:00 AM because we lost track of time) and we were standing by his car as he was on his way out. After he asked me, I paused and thought about how stupid I would be to let this guy go again, so I said yes. He gave me a big hug and said; “I am so happy. I need to give you something though.” He searched his pockets and eventually dashed for his center console in his car. He pulled out a $1 bill ring and gave it to me. He said his uncle taught him how to make them and that he should give that ring to someone special. It was then that I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this guy. And, on May 27, 2021, he took me to Huntington Beach. We walked up and down the beach on this beautiful and sunny morning. After a long conversation of our life together thus far and how much we love each other, Nate got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I didn’t even have to think about my answer and immediately, with tears in my eyes, said yes!
