Our Story

From best friends to parents, celebrating 10 years of marriage fueled by a sense of adventure!

Little did we know how real the Quaker Matchbox, i.e. Swarthmore alumni marrying each other, was when we both set foot on Swarthmore's campus. Our story starts off on the third floor of a charming dorm in Swarthmore College. We met on the first day of move-in, where we were placed on the same hall, and little did we know how quickly we would become best friends! We bonded over our love for chocolate, our commitment to fun, and a deep desire to understand and change the world. While Riana was studying abroad backpacking across six countries, before we even went on our first official date, we spend many months in conversation. We talked conceptually and dug into what good partnership looks like, what our hopes, dreams and ambitions were, and the life we envisioned for ourselves. This analysis and deep discussion, punctuated by laughter, has continued over the years for all big decisions. We got married post Swarthmore after an elaborate Scavenger Hunt proposal from Riana to an unsuspecting Frank. Between periods of long distance across Palo Alto, Tokyo, and Cambridge, three graduate degrees, and two kids, life has come full circle with our current residence in Philadelphia. When we got married in 2015 in a small ceremony we always hoped that we would get to do a proper celebration at the 10 year mark with our closest family and friends. It is only fitting that we get to do it near Philadelphia, the city where we first met, along with our beautiful kiddos, Lev (4 years) and Leo (almost 1). If you’ve read this far know that you have been deeply influential for us across many walks of life and we’re so honored to have you in our lives. Please join us to celebrate our ten-year anniversary and little family with all of you!
