A friend asked me if I'd like to go to Delta Sigma Phi's semi-formal with her date's roommate. I had never met her date, nor her date’s roommate – but I still said yes. The week of semi-formal, my date suggested that we get to know each other over coffee. I was on my way out of Chi Omega (sans makeup and in my favorite Chinese mesh slippers) when my roommate, Amanda, stopped me and said I was in no condition to meet someone and helped me become ‘presentable’. Early as always I walked in to Campus Perk coffee shop - makeup and all. Frank strolled in at the last possible minute (per usual as I would come to find out) and introduced himself. After a long time spent getting to know each other, we parted ways… Ironically, neither of us like coffee. Fast forward to Fall of 2015, Haley and I kept bumping into each other. We were both Greek Week Chairs for our houses as well as Intramural Football Referees… Haley wasn’t really a referee though, just a score keeper. One day I jokingly asked her to take my place and officiate a game. She immediately said yes and proceeded to furiously try to learn everything she could about IM football. After a while, I told her that it was a joke…which prompted her to demand an apology in the form of food. I of course obliged. The apology dinner became our first official date at Imo’s Pizza. Soon after, we began dating. After many nights at the Grotto, and days at the Library it was time for me to graduate. Frank and I made the easy decision to continue dating even though I would be working in Chicago. After lots of driving we discovered that distance does indeed make the heart grow fonder, and Frank decided that he would also take a job in Chicago. Six months later, Frank sent me on a scavenger hunt throughout Chicago that led to the Adler Planetarium where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. As you may have guessed, I said yes.
