Travel Note
The Steamship Authority is the best ferry service to use to get to Martha's Vineyard. The boat departs from Woods Hole, MA and arrives in Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs. The Steamship Authority operates all day, every day. The trip takes 45 minutes and bicycles and pets are welcome on the boat. While it is not necessary that you bring a car, if you plan to bring one, you will need to make a car reservation IN ADVANCE. Reservations are now open! You can book on the SSA website, or by calling 508.477.8600. For any car ferries, you must make the specific ferry time that you reserved. They are not forgiving about missing your time-slot! If you are NOT bringing a car, you can walk onto ANY ferry without a reservation. Parking is NOT available at the ferry terminals. Instead, park in a Steamship Authority parking lot (listed on their website), and a bus shuttle will take you to the terminal. The buses also can accommodate bikes.
Travel Note

We have room blocks at The Edgar Hotel and The Harborview, but if those don't fit your needs, we'd also recommend: -The Kelley House -The Harborside Inn -The Hob Knob Inn -The Charlotte Inn -The Richard -The Christopher -The Sydney Also, if you'd rather rent a house, we recommend you work with Point B Realty or Sandpiper Realty. They have some great listings in Edgartown.

Martha's Vineyard has a comprehensive bus system that connects Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, Aquinnah, Chilmark, and West Tisbury. Buses run regularly and are a great, cost-effective way to see the Island. This may be the best and most effective way to get where you need to go. You can pay as you go, or purchase multi-day bus passes on the buses at the Steamship Authority or at the Edgartown Visitors Center. Buses may be boarded at bus stops or flagged en route in safe places (i.e. not in an intersection or on a curve). All Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) buses are handicap accessible. Visit their website for schedules, route maps, fares and additional information. VTA buses are all equipped with bike racks. https://www.vineyardtransit.com/route-schedules
