Kismet is a small, charming beach town on the western end of Fire Island, a barrier island off the south shore of Long Island, New York. It’s only accessible by ferry, water taxi, or private boat—there are no cars on the island!
The most common way is to take the Fire Island Ferry from Bay Shore, NY. The ferry schedule is seasonal, so please check the Fire Island Ferries website for the most up-to-date times. The Kismet ferry terminal is separate from other Fire Island destinations, so be sure you're on the correct line!

Arrive at the Bay Shore ferry terminal at least 30 minutes early — parking and lines can get busy. Check terminal signs and the ferry website for any updates. Bring cash for your ticket, as not all windows accept cards. Wear comfortable shoes — you’ll be walking boardwalks and sandy paths if you need to park in another lot.
If you miss the 10:25 PM ferry, don’t panic — you have a couple of options: Call H2O Water Taxi to try and book a private boat, depending on availability. (Note: This can be expensive and is not guaranteed.) Walk from Kismet to Field 5 at Robert Moses (about 1.5 miles or 30 minutes). From there, you may be able to get picked up by a friend or call a cab from the mainland. Either way, please plan ahead — ferry service is limited at night.

Unfortunately, Kismet books up quickly for August, and at this point, there’s no availability left. If you’re coming for the wedding, we recommend planning your transportation instead—check the Fire Island Ferry schedule, look into H2O Water Taxi service, or plan for the 30-minute walk from Field 5 at Robert Moses. We promise it’s worth the trip!
