We both grew up in Menomonee Falls, and although participating in swim club and band together, we hadn't said more than "hi" to each other (photos above from 2012). It wasn't until our senior year of high school (2018) that our class schedules aligned then soon enough we became best friends and started dating. With college plans already set, Paul moved to Ball State University in Indiana and Kayla to the University of Illinois at Chicago the following summer (2019), and our relationship quickly became dependent on the Greyhound bus and Facetime. Four years and two graduations later (2023), we moved to Indianapolis with our roommates to start our careers. Paul surprised Kayla by proposing to her at a nature preserve near Ball State on July 2, 2023; he even invited his entire family, her parents, and our friends to celebrate our engagement.
