In 2015 Lizzie was completing her MBA at Clarkson University, where Fran was the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. On the most romantic of holidays, Fran and Lizzie found themselves at the same Halloween party. It didn't take long for Fran to learn that Lizzie shared an interest in his two favorite topics, basketball and Boston. As it turned out, Lizzie's grandfather was the Clarkson Men's Basketball Coach in the 60's and she spent many years training as a figure skater in Boston. While they parted ways on Halloween night, they met again in early 2016, this time in Project Management class. Throughout the spring semester of 2016, Fran and Lizzie spent time getting to know one another, with Fran planning dates to Clarkson hockey games and Lizzie showing Fran her favorite spots in the North Country. After Fran's basketball season came to an end on the night of February 19th, he asked Lizzie to be his girlfriend. She said yes (it wouldn't be the last time).   Exactly five years later, on February 19th, 2021, Fran decided it was time to ask Lizzie the next big question. While he had originally planned to pop the question on their favorite beach, mother nature had other plans and brought the biggest snowstorm of the year on that day. Fran quickly thought up Plan B and told Lizzie that they would be spending the weekend in Boston for a staycation. Once in the city, Fran and Lizzie set out from the parking garage next to Lizzie's office, and began walking towards Copley Square (a place that Lizzie walks by daily when she's in the office). Lizzie made many attempts to change the course of the walk, but just after crossing to Copley she spotted a photographer (the only person out in the storm) and asked Fran "why is that lady looking at us?!". The rest is history. Fran quickly got down on one knee and five years to the day that their love story began, Lizzie said "YES!" again.
