Their story began on 24th November 2017. They were both studying in London at the time when, through mutual friends, Francesca was invited to Matthieu’s house party. And just like that, she found herself knocking on a stranger’s door on a Friday night. When he opened it, she was immediately struck by his kindness. A couple of years later, their paths crossed again. The first time they truly spoke, they ended up getting into a fight (chi disprezza, compra!). Who would have thought that this would be the beginning of everything? Six years ago, around this same time of year, they made a date to meet in Paris, halfway between them. Francesca was coming from London, where she had spent almost a decade. Matthieu was coming from Luxembourg, where he had just moved back. That weekend, they said “I love you” for the first time and chose each other, fully. The following weekend, Francesca came to visit Matthieu in Luxembourg, and never actually left. Since then, they have walked side by side through everything life has brought them: growth and change, uncertainty and moments that turned the world upside down, blending two cultures, moving more times than they can count, building a home, and raising their two doggos, Brunello and Archie. Through it all, they have chosen each other, again and again. Last year, on a lava field in Iceland under the Northern Lights, Matthieu got down on one knee while Francesca was still in her pyjamas. A moment that perfectly captured their story, unexpected, deeply meaningful, and entirely their own. Matthieu is Francesca’s best friend and her constant, the calm in the chaos, the steady presence that makes everything feel possible. He is her safe place and her home, wherever they are in the world. With his quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering support, he has held space for her dreams, her growth, and every version of who she has become. He is the one who brings her back to herself, who listens deeply, and who shows up every day with patience, humour, and love. He is an extraordinary partner and the best dog dad she could have wished for. Francesca is Matthieu’s better half in every sense of the word, his partner in crime, his steady compass, and the one who has stood by his side through every high and low. Together, they face life as equals: celebrating the wins, navigating the challenges, and occasionally debating whose turn it is to walk the dogs. She is his soulmate, his rock, and yes, his princess. The best thing (along with their dogs, of course) that has ever happened to him.
