My very lovely Aunty and Ogemdi's beloved brother who both live in Cali were in conversation one particular, blessed day, and somehow our names came up. They both thought it a splendid idea that we should connect, so they sent me a picture of an attractive, young looking man in Nigeria but I was hesitant because he looked like a 22 yr old guy who was living across the ocean (he's older than 22 ;). They convinced me and I conceded, so later that night Ogemdi called me and kept my attention for 2 hours on the phone talking all about how he wanted to start a family. I'm pretty sure he mentioned 'family' like 7 times during that conversation. He was so sure about me and I was still saying, 'Don't get carried away, lover boy, we haven't met yet'. We stayed connected for 6 weeks and then I flew to Nigeria to meet him. My family, especially the women, fell in love with him instantly and told me that he was my husband. I was thinking, 'ladies, chill. I just met the man today, literally! (insert story of Abraham sending his servant to go find a wife for his beloved son, Isaac, and Rebekah was the woman, and they knew it immediately. That's kinda what it felt like when I received his father's blessing of marriage a day after I heard about this great man, Ogemdi). One week later Ogem proposed VERY publicly on a stage in the spotlight, kneeing before hundreds (1st of a few proposals), and our lives haven't been the same since. One week after that, on the plane ride back to Houston, I had an epiphany, still in a state of shock, asking myself, 'DID YOU JUST GET ENGAGED IN ONE WEEK IN NIGERIA??!?!?!? hahah. Yep- that's exactly what happened. This man is my greatest joy and a great adventure awaits us in loving and serving God together. Oh- No, it wasn't an arranged marriage- we had a choice in the matter.
