It took a number of classes together, countless study hours, a declaration of love, a rejection, and a blizzard to build a bond that has endured the freezing temperatures of Iowa, long distances, the scorching heat of Arizona, the humidity of South Florida and, most importantly, the test of time. Throughout the years two things have remained the same, they are each other's best friends and Aboo's favorites.

The plan: while at the lighthouse in Key Biscayne watching the sunset, AJ hoped to drop to one knee and ask Frances to spend the rest of their lives together. Followed by a candle lit dinner surrounded by nature's greenery and later a surprise celebration by the beach with their closest friends in South Florida. The reality: following the booster vaccine, AJ was found in bed for two days straight only getting up the day of the planned proposal. Frances woke up not feeling the greatest so she decided to take a sick day from work to make it to dinner, unbeknownst to her what was about to go down. Under the impression dinner was at 6:30pm, and unaware of any other plans, she thought being ready by 5:30pm would be sufficient time to get to dinner. Unfortunately, the entry to the lighthouse was until 6:00pm and it took them 40 minutes to get there, just barely missing the window. They decided to go straight to dinner instead where AJ, either because of nerves or the illness, could barely eat. After dinner AJ insisted on taking a walk, he was determined that night would be the beginning of forever, mainly because they already had friends waiting at The Standard. Walking through Coconut Grove's old town the options for a romantic proposal were limited, there was a soccer field, a public gym in a park, and a bunch of high-rises, until they found a marina under a star filled night with the skyline of Miami in the background and all of the sudden the words "will you marry me?" floated out of AJ's mouth followed by a "YES, of course!" from Frances.
