Our story began on a Halloween night four years ago at a place we both knew quite well and are now calling our wedding venue. After years of knowing each other’s families, crossing the same paths but just at different times, and hearing stories about one another, we had never actually met… until that one night! It was a moment of instant recognition. We’d heard so much about each other over the years, and even had a brief conversation back in 2016 after an unsuccessful matchmaking attempt by Jess’ Uncle James and Joshua’s Dad Wes. But that night, it was like fate was stepping in. As soon as our eyes met across the room, it was as if everything we’d heard and felt about each other suddenly clicked. There was no awkwardness, no hesitation—just an instant connection. We spent the evening talking, laughing, and realizing how many things we had in common. It was clear that this wasn’t just a chance encounter—it was the beginning of something meant to be. The rest of the night flew by, and by the time the party ended, we had exchanged numbers, that we realized we already had for years. Our first "official" date, however, wasn’t quite as smooth. Joshua was supposed to pick me up, but as luck would have it, his truck broke down, and he ended up missing our first date. I guess I decided he was worth the wait. A few months later, we shared our almost first kiss? I had been anticipating it, hoping for a magical, swoon-worthy moment. But, as most things go in real life, it was… well, a bit awkward. I was nervous, and Joshua ended up getting swerved at the last second when I turned my head the other way. We both left immediately and then texted each other about how awkward it was 30 minutes later, in that moment, I knew we’d be okay. If we could talk about and laugh off an awkward first kiss, we could handle anything together. Since then, every moment with each other has only confirmed what we felt that night: we were meant to be. The rest of our journey has been filled with laughter, growth, and so many moments of learning how to love each other more deeply. Now, four years later, we find ourselves back at the very place, where it all started, ready to take the next step in our journey together. Our story may have started with a twist of fate, a broken-down truck, and an awkward kiss, but it’s one we’re so grateful for. We can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of you, in the place where it all began.
