Celebrating their 70th anniversary this June, Jim's is a Huntington staple and Carmen has worn the signature white dress for years. Michael has sent her flowers there, has brought the twins in for fish, and even has his own "regular" order -- the cheeseburger. While you're not likely to see Carmen in Jim's during your visit, it has been a part of the story of Michael and Carmen.
Michael and Carmen are both fans of the Thundering Herd. Carmen returned to Marshall to teach after graduating in 2010, and Michael has attended more Marshall sporting events than we can count! He even gave Carmen her first courtside game experience during this past basketball season. If you choose to check out the campus, bring peanuts -- There are A LOT of squirrels.
Recently remodeled, the Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe features a unique menu and abundant team memorabilia. The food is good and the people are friendly, so Michael decided that this would be the place to go on the couple's first real date when Carmen returned to the United States. The date didn't go so great, but fate had other plans for this pair.
"Bottled Up" is a craft beer and wine store in the new, upscale shopping plaza in downtown Huntington. Carmen and Michael opened their new store on May 5th with a wine-tasting event. Since then, they have been busy every day helping customers select the best brews and wines available in the Tri-State. Caesar and Gio come in sometimes to remind customers that their silhouette dominates the store logo.
For those athletic visitors to the region, Carmen and Michael frequently enjoy taking Preston and Joseph to the indoor putting greens on Washington Avenue. You, too, might appreciate the realistic video experience that mimics an actual putting green. If you decide to go, though, be sure to find out what the twins are doing because they'll regret missing a chance to go hit balls around.
We were just four seconds from solving it!
Located in the hills above Ritter Park, HMOA is home to the state's only plant conservatory and features art works from all over Appalachia. In the summer they regularly host kid-friendly activities and are located on 50+ acres of land, offering several nature walks and trails. Michael and Carmen have been known to take the boys and highly recommend it. If you find down time in the area, check it out.
