From Kara’s perspective: Literally no joke. It all started on Good Friday. Well, a few weeks before. We both have a dear friend name Kayla, whom I had only met one prior time before and didn’t get to keep in contact with very much. We started texting about some thing regarding her job and the next thing I know she says she has a guy for me. She basically told John Thomas the same thing. She encouraged us both to take a chance. She gave him my number and he took three days to text me. It’s super cute because he was nervous but it left me hanging and terrified not knowing what was next. Well, Kayla encouraged him to text me and he was blunt from the get-go. He basically asked when did I want to meet. Unfortunately because of my work schedule and his work schedule and just Easter coming up we decided on Sunday, April 16 we would have lunch. We texted back-and-forth and then that Sunday came. I suggested a place that I did not know was permanently closed. I texted him during service and he suggested a Mexican restaurant down the street. Come to find out later that neither one of us really like Mexican food. (Side note: I was so nervous I almost talked myself out of it. I’m so thankful I didn’t.) By the end of the first date we both knew we wanted to see each other again. That next Saturday, we went to a local coffee shop and then a walk at the park. We were both talking pretty seriously from the second date. We both know we really liked each other and we could so see this going somewhere….. Fast forward to August 25, 2023, I come home from work and there he is down on one knee as I open the front door to my home (soon to be our home), and he says “will you marry me?” I could write a book on our story and I hope he could too. The way the Lord work things out is absolutely amazing and I or he would be happy to tell you in person what God has done in our lives. We can’t wait to see what God does in and through us! We hope you can join us in celebrating what HE has already done!
