Tidal Basin Paddle Boats
Do your best social distancing act while taking paddle boats around the Tidal Basin! Take in the amazing views of the Cherry Blossoms and several monuments surrounding the area! Can’t beat the photo opportunities!!
Washington Monument
Check out the Washington Monument and the National Mall! The Washington Monument stands 555 feet tall!! No building in Washington DC is allowed to be taller than the monument!! From the top you can see up to 30 miles!! When allowed to take the elevator to the top you are able to see some stunning views in all directions!! Built to honor George Washington, the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army and the first President of the United States, the Washington Monument was once the tallest building in the world at just over 555 feet. The monument to America’s first president still holds the title of world’s tallest stone structure and obelisk. Maintained by the National Park Service, the Washington Monument is located on the center of the National Mall between the U.S. Capitol and Lincoln Memorial.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is situated on a four-acre site along the National Mall's Tidal Basin, adjacent to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and shares a direct line of sight between the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials. Its official address is 1964 Independence Avenue SW, in honor of the Civl Rights Act of 1964. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the most prominent leaders of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. The closest Metro stop is Smithsonian, on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines. Of course, the memorial is in very close proximity to the other memorials surrounding the Tidal Basin. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no fee to visit. National Park Service rangers are on site to answer questions from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Interpretive programs are available throughout the day and upon request.
Baked & Wired
Shout out to Caroline’s (and now Andrew’s) friend Billy for introducing this place years ago! While Georgetown Cupcakes is certainly a photo op with delicious treats, Baked and Wired has an assortment of sweets and beverages that are truly something special.
Georgetown Waterfront Park
This picture was taken almost four years prior to our wedding date, when we were sending off our dear Ashley to a new adventure in North Carolina! The Georgetown waterfront is always a photo opportunity, look at the Kennedy center behind us! While walking the waterfront, there are restaurants to stop at for a drink or two, just be sure you’re ready to keep going all weekend long!
