How we met: Sarah version!

Alex caught my eye many nights getting out of his FJ before work and on the elevator but of course I didn’t let him know this. I always had a feeling drawing me towards him that made me curious to know him. Little did I know the plans God had for me. Man am I glad I had that delusional morning after a long night shift when Alex and I (by God’s doing) were the only two in the elevator. I talked so much I didn’t even get his name. All I know is not long after that morning, I started seeing him on my unit walking around talking to my friends. Everyone, except for me, caught onto his schemes to come see me at work when he got a chance. He was ultimately busted when our mutual friend Lindsay spilled the beans to me that he had a major crush. (Thanks Linds!) That’s when God continued to make it all fall into place. I got a message from Alex inviting me to the Brett Young concert with a group of people. My friend ended up not being able to go, but I could not ignore the fact that I wanted to hang out with this sweet, handsome guy. I told him I’d like to come anyway if he’d have me come hang out with him and his friends. I was eager for what the night ahead was going to bring, and then... I was friend-zoned. No flirting, no sitting close, no curious conversations. It had to be because he thought I was seeing someone right? I mean hello there’s no other explanation (lol). I waited until the right time and then I blurted out my secret I had been holding onto. “Lindsay told me what you said about me.” Followed by, “I’m not seeing anyone fyi, you can do whatever you want with that.” He immediately walked over to me and kissed me in the most caring way. We danced the entire night away, and stayed up until early morning talking about our past and what we see for our futures. It amazed me how much our hearts and minds matched up. I thought he was the guy version of me until I learned he doesn’t like beer. I still love him. That being said, It’s safe to say never take the stairs!

How We Met: Alex version!

I heard this contagious laugh as I got out of my car in the parking garage. I look over and see the biggest most beautiful smile plastered on a small gorgeous girl with brown hair. After a few times of seeing her in the parking garage and riding up and down the elevator with her, there was a chemistry I was beginning to feel. After a few weeks of awkward eye contact and a few laughs, she finally says hello and asked how my night was. I have no idea what I said after that due to the pure shock I was in that this beautiful girl was talking to me. I remember walking with her to the garage, being a dummy for not getting her name. But I knew I wanted to see her again. I would wait in my car to hopefully see her and walk in with her. Eventually I found out where she worked and I would make excuses to go down just so I could see her and have a conversation about nothing. Eventually I got the courage to ask her to the beach. Didn’t work out. Tried to get her number. Didn’t work out. Then I was told she was seeing someone, so I backed off a bit. I still thought she was awesome and had the best personality in the world so I planned a small group to go to the Brett young concert. That night changed my life. She told me that she wasn’t seeing anyone and asked if I was going to do anything. I immediately pulled her in close and kissed her. I couldn’t stop kissing her. Her smile was so contagious and her laugh melted my heart. We stayed up all night talking about life and our goals and dreams. Turns out we were perfect for each other. Ever since that night she’s been the love of my life. Today I call her my fiancé and I hope to soon call her my wife. And someday I pray I get the blessing to call her the mother of our children. ❤️

The Proposal

12/18/2019

Alex proposed to me on December 18th during sunset at the historic Battery waterfront park in the city where our relationship started and flourished, Charleston, SC. He asked me the easiest question (to be his forever) to which I totally ruined the romantic moment and responded "DUH!". That day will forever be special, and we are so excited to celebrate our wedding around the same date a year later!
