Yes, a valid passport is required (must be valid during duration of stay). US citizens will fill out paperwork on your flight to Mexico for tourism. Be sure to keep your documents!
Fly into MEX Mexico City International Airport (Benito Juarez).
Yes, Mexico City is a major tourist destination for Americans! That said, be mindful of blending in with the community around you and use caution as you would in any major city. Avoid wearing excessively flashy jewelry and use Ubers to get around after dark.
NO!! Please DO NOT drink tap water in Mexico City, it is not potable...unless you want a visit from Montezuma's Revenge. Be aware of not swallowing water when showering, brushing your teeth, washing dishes, etc. Restaurants use potable water for serving guests and ice.
Ubers are our favorite way to travel and you can schedule ahead as desired through the app. They are inexpensive and reliable. ALWAYS go through the Uber app, do not accept "Uber" rides that are not booked through the app. La Condesa and Roma Norte are generally safe neighborhoods and great for walking. Some other neighborhoods you may want to explore are Polanco, Zona Rosa, Juarez & Coyoacan. Beyond those, we suggest using cars to get around as we're less familiar.
No. Mexico uses the same plug types as the US, A & B.
As Karen Forrester would answer, "...sure..." Short answer, yes but with caution. It's common for people to eat tacos, etc. from street vendors, but use good judgement.
It can be helpful to have Pesos, but most places accept major credit cards and tap-to-pay. It's easy to exchange dollars for pesos at the airport or get pesos from an ATM using your US bank debit card.
In May, temps can range between mid 60s and mid 80s - gorgeous gorgeous weather!
Shuttles will leave at 2:50p from the hotels as Mexico City traffic can be unpredictable that time of day.
