It started when David asked our friends, Kariana and Tristan, if Kariana had any single friends. Kariana mentioned me, Briana, and David showed interest. Unfortunately, the timing was NOT right. I knew about David's interest and refused to date him. Fast forward a year, I was talking to a man who was a marine and I considered myself "occupied". Kariana texted me (on my father's birthday, might I add) expressing how "bored" she was at home with her then-fiance, now husband, Tristan, and his friend. Kariana failed to say who this friend was but she insisted I come over. Once I walked into the house, I noticed him. Red beard, baseball cap, tight white t-shirt, light blue jeans, red vans... honestly he was begging to be seen. I immediately turned around and went into the bathroom. David claims I "freaked out", which I did not. I went into the bathroom because I had to fix my shirt and hair, getting myself together so that he could see what he would be missing because I was "occupied". I walked back to the living room where everyone was and sat on the furthest seat away from David, the single-seat La-Z-Boy in the corner. Kariana and I talked about the boy I was "occupied" with at the time, and I was not as loud and obvious as David says I was, I was just passionate about whatever I was talking about. David then comes over to me and sits... on a freaking medicine ball of ALL things. He spoke to me for the rest of the night and I couldn't believe this guy was still interested in me. He had no social media, so I was sure he couldn't have been keeping track of me, how could he maintain interest for a year? Meanwhile, I was off chit-chatting with a Marine! David was very sure about getting my number that night. I later found out that setting me up to come over that night was HIS idea! He was determined and I was clueless. I entertained him and I remember I just could not stop smiling. I had never had a man be so determined and consistent as David was. I couldn't help but be kind and funny and as I loosened up, the real me came out. We played games, joked about K-pop, and agreed it was lame, he was joking about me while also being charming and I could not resist. That's when I realized... damn... he got me. As the night ended, David and I walked out along with Tristan and Kariana. We exchanged goodbyes and Tristan proceeded to take David home. I got in my car, took a moment to reflect, smiled, and drove home. Before walking in, Kariana texted me saying David asked if he could have my number, I said yes. He texted me seconds later, and asked if he could take me on a date later that week, I said yes. Little did I know that 4 short years later, I would say "yes" again, this time, to being his wife.
