How we meet

I love our story and how God was working behind the scenes. 2 1/2 years ago I moved from Auburn back to Birmingham. I was attending the Grandview Campus but was serving at the Dream Center every other weekend. Meanwhile, Micah had moved back to town a couple years prior and was attending the Woodlawn Campus. A year went by and we crossed paths multiple times but with both of our eyes closed. (We both have pictures from serving at the Dream Center where we are in the background of each other's pictures, yet we never knew each other existed.) Fast forward a bit, I was feeling like my season at Grandview was coming to an end and that God was leading me somewhere else. I began praying for a door to open and within the week I received a call asking if I would switch over to the Woodlawn Campus and become the Highlands Kids Coordinator - OKAY God! Of course, I ran through that open door. As a requirement for my internship, I had to stay to takedown our portable campus each week. Little did I know my soon to be man was faithfully serving on that team each week. Of course, I met him the first Sunday being at Woodlawn. That next week 21 days of prayer and fasting began, and I couldn't help but notice this man pacing around seeking God at 6 am every morning. I began praying if this man was for me. This is where our story gets comical. Shortly after 21 days of prayer, I posted a story on my Instagram listening to the song "Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift. On the story, I had made a post asking if the song was a classic throwback or not. Micah voted yes on the poll and so I slid into his DMs with a laughing face (To be honest, he thought the poll was about the singer Tim McGraw not the song by Taylor Swift but YOLO! I am glad he made that mistake). It didn't take us too long after that to exchange numbers and of course, go on a first date. It amazes me that despite not being able to see it in the moment, God was working out something beautiful in the background.

How he asked

February 9, 2019, was the one-year anniversary of our first date. In trying to be all cute, I decided to surprise Micah by revisiting all the places we went on that date - Cowfish, Insomnia Cookies, and Vulcan. So on Friday, I told him that Saturday he needed to be ready because I was going to take him out. On the way to the Dream Center Saturday, I called my best friend to tell her the cute idea I had planned. Little did I know, they had been scheming the proposal behind my back to be at Vulcan the following week. As soon as she got off the phone with me she called Micah to tell him I was taking him to Vulcan. He was planning to propose there in just a couple days, so in his mind, there was only one thing to do - PROPOSE TODAY! He called his best friend, got a photographer, and set up the end of the night proposal with a few hours notice and without me knowing a thing! So the time arrives for our date to start... I thought the whole date was surprising him but little did I know I was about to have the surprise of my life. We went to dinner and all seemed normal. Next stop was insomnia cookies. However, it didn't go as planned because EVERYONE AND THEIR MOM decided to go there. Needless to say, we walked out with no cookies. Luckily, I wasn't too heartbroken, because I still had one last stop. As we were walking up to the Vulcan, I noticed lanterns and pictures on the ground (I didn't have my glasses on so I actually thought it was a memorial. Ha.). He kept walk in the direction of it, and at some point, I realized the pictures were of us. I was shook. Completely shook. He began talking but I still have no idea what he said or I said all I know is that he got down on one knee and put a ring on my finger. Although neither of us woke up Saturday thinking we would get engaged, God did. He literally made it the best night even if we didn't get cookies. He used me to plan my own proposal and I was able to surprise Micah in the process. #BESTDAYEVER
