as teens, we went to the same bible camp each summer (in addition to another annual church event, like good preacher's kids). we were always just acquaintances from afar; our friend groups didn't overlap much. there were times, though, when our paths crossed––and those times were predictably entertaining. whether it was this random blonde girl (curry) coming up to this random brunette guy (daniel) and pointing out his uncanny resemblance to vector from "despicable me" (just google it), or this random blonde girl (guess who) yelling for all to hear about this random brunette guy's (guess who pt. 2) secret crush (not her...at the time), there were definite flashes of a great relationship. somehow, over time (we're not exactly sure at what time), the random blonde and brunette became aware of each other's existence.
at a weeklong church conference, we ended up in the same friend group, and magic ensued. several hours of crumbl cookie, trash talking, and co-commentating on literally everything happening around us later, and a deep friendship had begun. fast forward through several months of friendship, and we met back up at church camp. one all-nighter later (including a minions movie, waffle house [of course], and lOts of talking), our relationship had officially begun.
florida girl + arkansas boy = lots of driving miles, facetime hours, and sad hearts. the dating period has been so so special for us, and we've savored every minute of it. we are, however, very, VERY excited not to be separated by two screens, four states, and eight hours.
on a florida dock, daniel distracted curry with manatees and dolphins while searching for the perfect moment. in a subsequent interview, daniel admitted, "i honestly didn't know what i was doing. the moment i saw the baby manatee, though, i knew it was time to take the leap." he also stated that he was prepared to toss the ring to the manatees if curry had said no, then walk away pretending that nothing happened, pride intact.
we're so excited to begin our life together. we are excited about the good times and the bad times--we just want to experience them together. we hope that the years to come are full of friends, family, learning, growing, generosity, holiness, happiness, fairness, peace, harmony, sacrificial fulfillment, joy, fun, trust, worship, laughter, quality time, cOmMuNiCaTiOn, warmth, affection, kindness, beauty, prayer, song, and--of course--coffee. LOTS of coffee. and we hope you'll join us for the journey! we're all in this together.
