What can I expect at the postponed Wedding Celebration?

Answer

It will look very similar to what we originally had planned for 2020: a ceremony and reception at the same venue in Iowa City. This time, with extra emphasis on how grateful we are to finally celebrate with our loved ones!

What health precautions are you asking attendees to take?

Answer

We respectfully ask all guests and vendors in attendance to be fully vaccinated. Let's make postponing worth the wait! COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing disease, especially severe illness and death. COVID-19 vaccines also reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html If it is not possible to be fully vaccinated by our wedding date, we ask that you take a COVID-19 test the week of the wedding and wear a mask per the CDC guidelines for unvaccinated people and out of an abundance of caution for our vulnerable family members. If you are unable to do either, we welcome you to celebrate with us in another capacity. Thank you for doing everything you can to minimize risk and keep us all healthy!

Can I hitch a ride?

Answer

Yes! Plan to celebrate with us, and don't worry about the transportation back to your hotel room. The Heartland Inn is offering a free shuttle to & from the wedding venue. It is a 25-minute drive to & from The Celebration Farm venue to the Heartland Inn. Use the link on the Travel page to book a room at a special reduced rate reserved for our party and take advantage of the shuttle service.

But what will I wear?

Think dressy-casual. Keep in mind that the ceremony service will be held outdoors, so dress for the weather. (And heads-up ladies, the ceremony is on grass - choose your footwear wisely!) After the ceremony, we will go into the temperature-controlled Timber Frame Barn.

Can I take photos throughout the day?

Answer

Yes and no. We are asking for an "unplugged" ceremony where everyone turns their phones off and is present for the service (we promise to share the images that our fantastic photographer will capture!). After the ceremony, please turn your phone back on and take as many photos as you'd like! Share photos with our hashtag "#ForeverThePhillips" so that we can see them too.

What is the venue like?

Answer

Our Ceremony and Reception will be in the same place, so no travel in-between! The venue is the Celebration Farm in Iowa City, which has 2 barns and an outdoor ceremony space. Our ceremony service will be at the outdoor Amphitheater, and the reception will be inside the air-conditioned Timber Frame barn. These are next to each other on the property, but there will be signs on the day-of pointing you in the right direction. There is plenty of free, lighted parking if you choose to drive instead of taking the shuttle from the hotel.
