NY? Dayton? How did you find each other? We became friends in 2017 the way most have in our generation have lately, social media. We learned more about each other with occasional conversation. Eventually getting to know each other more through texting, FaceTime calls and a short pen pal stint. When we finally ran into each other in Baltimore, MD, we clicked instantly. At this point we referred to each other as twins because we did the same things, liked the same things and a love was born, a true friendship. As we continually grew closer together, we transformed into a couple, falling deep for each other. Months past, challenges came and life hit us with things we couldnt control. However through it all we never lost each other, we fell back on our friendship & it served as a safety net throughout the tough times. Now we are stronger than ever, moving forward. Taking the next step.
The weekend was set. We both knew that it would happen on the weekend of Feb. 22nd 2020. But to plan it without Leah knowing exactly what would happen was fun, complex and took some research to make it special. The days before arriving to Cleveland Ohio, I had to scrap my original proposal idea on the pier off the lake. I made some calls to see where I could plan something. I was told about the Rocafeller Park & Glasshouse and they made sure I had everything I needed to be able to make this happen. I went ahead gathering some props and making sure I packed the ring. One of her best friends, Imari, along with her boyfriend, his brother & I planned something for the proposal. By getting her mad with plans that didnt make sense, and acting like plans crumbled for the day, we had thrown her off. We head to the park for a “couples photo shoot”. After walking around the underwhelming scenery (because its february), I decide to “use the restroom” in the glasshouse. I had actually went to set up the proposal with finding the backdrop, rose pedals and looking for lighting. The friends lured her into the glasshouse, which she told me later she didnt want to because she didn't know where I was. There she found me, waiting for her in the rear of the glasshouse. As she walked towards me on one knee with a rose pedal covered trail - needless to say, she said yes.
