Kristen and DJ met at one of Kristen’s favorite restaurants — a place where she already knew most of the staff. Their paths hadn’t crossed sooner simply because DJ only worked there one night a week, while also juggling a career in broadcast journalism. The night they finally crossed paths, Kristen wasted no time pointing out that DJ was the one face she didn’t recognize. That observation quickly turned into banter, which turned into an easy back-and-forth that felt familiar almost immediately. True to his bold and old-school style, DJ tossed Kristen a cocktail napkin and asked her to write down her phone number. A first date at DJ’s favorite Mexican restaurant followed soon after. Busy schedules made getting things off the ground a little tricky, but not enough to stop them. They made it official in October 2023 and have been going strong ever since.
