Bride
Madison grew up in a Christian home in West Virginia, attending Brookhaven Elementary School (where Madison and Alex met), South Middle School, and Clay-Battelle Middle/High School in Monongalia County. After high school, Madison went to Alderson Broaddus University, where she majored in Christian Studies and minored in Psychology. Since college, Madison has devoted herself to working with youth in the state of WV, through ministry, substitute teaching, non-profit work, and employment at Academy Programs as a Teacher/Counselor.
Groom
Alex grew up in a Christian home in West Virginia, and attended Brookhaven Elementary (where Madison and Alex met), Kingwood Elementary, Suncrest Middle, and Morgantown High in Monongalia and Preston counties. After high school, Alex attended West Virginia University where he majored in Geographic Information Systems and minored in Communications. Since graduating, Alex has devoted his time to mentoring youth with Mountaineer Area RoboticS (MARS) and scouting. Currently, Alex is the District Executive for the Mountaineer Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Father of the Bride
Jeff is the father of Madison and her two sisters, Ashley and Amber. He has been married to Joyce, Madison's mother, for 25 years. Madison is grateful for the lessons he taught her about finding beauty in the world to turn into art, standing up for what's important, loving nature/adventure, and investing in others to help make the world a better place.
Father of the Groom
Chris is the father of Alex and his brother, Nicholas. Chris has been married to Sara, Alex's mother, for 27 years. Alex is grateful for the lessons Chris taught him about independent thinking, the importance of family, numerous life skills, and most importantly the characteristics necessary to be a great husband and father.
Mother of the Bride
Joyce is the mother of Madison and her two sisters, Ashley and Amber. Joyce has been married to Jeff, Madison's father, for 25 years. Madison is grateful for the lessons she taught her about the beauty of music, being patient, loving God, and compassion for others. Madison is also grateful for the wonderful role-model Joyce has been as a wife and mother.
Mother of the Groom
Sara is the mother of Alex, and of his brother Nicholas. Sara has been married to Chris, Alex's father, for 27 years. Alex is grateful for the lessons Sara taught him about the importance of patience, humility, resilience, and the love of music.
Maid of Honor
Jennifer has been a close friend of the bride since their freshman year at Alderson Broaddus. Jennifer and Madison were suitemates their Junior year of college, and roommates after graduating college in 2015 while both lived and worked in Philippi. Jennifer is an Elementary Special Education teacher at Philippi Middle School, and is actively involved in the community through Philippi Baptist Church. In times of stress and trouble, Madison has been grateful to Jennifer for her kindness, patience and compassion.
Best Man
Nicholas is the brother of the groom. Although seven years apart, Alex & Nicholas have a good brotherly relationship, full of compassion and mutual mockery. Nicholas is a senior in high school, is considering his options for college in the fall, & plans to pursue Physics. He is actively involved in Quakertown United Methodist Church & is an Eagle Scout of Troop 55 in Quakertown, PA.
Bridesmaid
Ashley is the older sister of the bride. Ashley and Madison have had a sisterly relationship full of ups and downs as they walked through life together, along with their younger sister, Amber. Madison is grateful for the relationship they have of love, support, and humor, but is sometimes resentful of Ashley's abuse of oldest sister power in convincing Madison to eat sand as a toddler. (HOW DARE YOU?!) All jokes aside, Madison is thankful to share her special day with someone who has been such an integral part of her life and who has been there through all of life's crazy turns.
Groomsman
Alex has been a friend of the groom since high school, when they were both on the Mountaineer Area RoboticS (MARS) FRC team and the MHS Red and Blue Band. Both attended West Virginia University and have maintained friendship throughout the past decade. Both are still involved as mentors for MARS. Alex and Alex share an appreciation for the comedic stylings of John Mulaney and Brian Regan.
Bridesmaid
Amber is the younger sister of the bride. Madison and Amber have grown closer in recent years than they were at a young age, as Ashley, Madison and Amber had plenty of sibling rivalry and disagreements. Madison is grateful to and envious of Amber for her determination, her drive, and her commitment to serving others. Amber is an Operations Specialist with the United States Navy, serving in Norfolk, VA. Thank you for your service, Munchkin!
Groomsman
Cody is a friend of the bride and groom, and is engaged to the maid of honor. (Congrats Jen and Cody!) Cody resides in Philippi, WV, where he serves the community through the EMS and the Philippi Fire Department. Madison and Alex are grateful to Cody for his friendship, and for the joy and levity he brings with him nearly wherever he goes.
Bridesmaid
Rebecca is a friend and former college roommate of the bride. Rebecca studied Business Administration at Alderson Broaddus University. Madison and Rebecca grew in friendship most when they were roommates in Madison's Senior year. Madison is grateful to Rebecca for her humor, faith and kindness.
Flower Girl
Evelyn is the daughter of Mary Beth Gewaldo, cousin of the groom. Having been a flower girl at her Uncle Paul's wedding last year, Evelyn is now a pro and the bride and groom are thankful for her willingness to be a part of our special day. It's good to know we have a professional in such a vital position for the occasion!
Ring Bearer
Michael is the oldest son of Ashley Ramsden, sister of the bride. Affectionately referred to as "Mikey," this two year old is full of joy and adventure. Mikey has a passion for music, Mickey Mouse, and saying the word "no."
Officiant
Pastor John was the bride's youth pastor and has been a source of spiritual guidance over the years. The bride and groom are grateful for his willingness to be a special part of our day.
